FAQ

Who can purchase from G&E?
We sell plants to florists, churches, schools, garden centers, landscapers, interior decorators, grocery stores, and other organizations.

What type of payment do you accept?
We accept payment in the form of cash, business checks, money orders or certified bank checks. I’m sorry, but at this time we do not accept credit cards. All accounts are COD until credit is established.

How do I set up an account?
In order to purchase from G&E, we need to have a credit application filled out in its entirety. We also need a copy of your state certificate of registration or tax exempt status. If we do not have a valid number on file, we will have to charge sales tax on all purchases. There is a fee of $25.00 for any returned checks, and all accounts with a past due balance will be changed back to COD until credit is reestablished.

Do you deliver?
We have our own fleet of delivery trucks. The minimum order to qualify for delivery must total $100.00.

Where do you deliver?
Our regular delivery zone covers the entire Chicagoland area as far east as Hammond, Indiana, south to Homewood and Joliet, west to Sandwich, DeKalb, and Rockford, and north to Lake Geneva, Paddock Lake, and Kenosha, Wisconsin. We occasionally deliver to the Milwaukee area as well. Deliveries outside this zone would incur special delivery charges based on distance traveled and size of order.

Do you charge for delivery?
For orders delivered on our regular route schedule, the delivery charge is as follows: Orders totaling $100.00 to $500.00 incur a $16.00 delivery charge. Orders over $500.00 incur a $12.00 delivery charge. We cover different areas on different days of the week. Additional charges may apply depending on distances travelled or special timed deliveries that are not within our regular route schedule.

How early do I need to place my order?
Orders can be placed at any time. The cut off for delivered orders is noon the day before delivery within our regularly scheduled route. Pick up orders need to be placed a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Holiday deliveries should be scheduled early to ensure availability of plants for the day you need them delivered. For example, many of our regular customers place their Christmas pre-orders in January for the following year.

What are your hours?
Office hours are Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. We are closed on the weekend.

Can I order a flower arrangement?
I’m sorry, but we do not sell cut flowers. Just tell us where you need an arrangement or a decorated plant delivered, and we will be happy to recommend a florist for you to call.

Do you sell trees and shrubs?
We do not sell trees and shrubs. We are growers of potted blooming and green plants for use indoors and in your gardens.

Do you custom grow crops?
We do grow custom orders. We’ll be happy to quote you on a crop. Just let us know the type and quantity of plants you want, the pot size, and the date required. Crops take different times to grow, so the earlier the better. Usually 6 – 8 months prior to delivery is a safe guideline.

Do you sell rooted cuttings or prefinished plants?
We can sell both rooted cuttings and prefinished plants. Just let us know what your needs are, and we’ll quote you a price. We specialize in rooted begonia cuttings, but would be happy to quote you on poinsettias, kalanchoes, or a variety of other crops. Just give us a call, and we’ll be happy to discuss your needs.

Do you put foil and bows on the plants?
We do sell speedcovers (molded plastic covers that look like foil). All you have to do is drop the pot in after you remove it from its protective sleeve. If you prefer that we put the speedcover put on the plants, there would be an additional labor charge. We do not offer foil and bows, but we’d be happy to recommend a florist, if you need bows on your flowers.

Do you sell wreaths and garland?
No, we do not sell wreaths and garland.
